Avec ses mélodies de guitare fluide et baladeuse proche du Sébéné, The Sea and Cake aurait pu suivre les traces sirupeuse de Laurent Voulzy ou donner dans le coupé-décalé, mais leur approche Jazz et surtout la voix languissante de Sam Prekop étaient trop flagrante pour échapper à une discographie pop qui débuta en 1994.
